ORGANISED DOWNWINDER
We'd love to take you on this fully organised adventure. From taxi, guidance during the downwinder to a warm shower and a snack and drink in our Beach House. Everything is taken care of.

YOU CAN COUNT ON THIS AT BLOW
In our eyes, a downwinder is the ultimate freedom. We leave the safe spot behind us and rock downwind (with the wind) along the coast to our destination. In the meantime, we smack the lip, use the waves as take-off and enjoy the last piece of unspoiled nature in the Netherlands: our North Sea.
- TRANSPORT & STORAGE
We always provide transport from or to BLOW in the form of buses or taxis. We store all your belongings safely in our kitesurfing school.
- INSTRUCTOR ON THE JOB
Prior to the downwinder, we brief the group during a skippers meeting, help you with the equipment and keep an eye on things during the downwinder.
- WARM WELCOME AT BLOW
After a downwinder, it is wonderful to land at our home base. A drink and a snack are waiting for you while we exchange strong stories 😉
THE BLOW DOWNWINDERS
There are 2 downwind options. These are based on your kitesurfing and downwind experience. Always choose the option that suits your level. Nothing is more annoying than having to stop prematurely or getting into trouble because the level is just a bit too high.
Hoek van Holland - BLOW
The intermediate version, we take the bus to the south and downwind 10km to BLOW. You will be busy for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
- You have experience with at least two downwinders
- You can ride upwind, ride toeside, do a self-rescue and board rescue
- You are physically fit enough to finish the downwinder
- Material is up-to-date
BLOW - NOORDWIJK
The real deal! From BLOW to Noordwijk, 30 km. About 2.5 - 3 hours of shredding! We'll brave the Scheveningen harbor and the Pier. Know what you're getting into!
- You have at least three years of kitesurfing experience

How does it work?
Step 1
Downwinder participation is organized via Whatsapp. Sign up for the 'BLOW Downwind Crew' WhatsApp group to be the first to receive 'Downwinder Alerts'.
Step 2
If a downwinder is planned, you'll hear about it 5 days in advance. You can then indicate whether you want to join. Reserve your spot via the WhatsApp group. We'll let you know two days in advance if the downwinder will proceed.
Step 3
The downwinders will take place with southwest wind or northeast between 20 and 35 knots. If the downwinder cannot continue, you will keep your reservation for the next downwinder.
Step 4
Yes, yes, yes, all lights are green. Let's go! On the day itself, make sure you are fit and your gear is in order. Be on time, be happy. Choose your buddy, make good agreements and enjoy. Let's fucking rock this downwinder together!

How do I sign up?
We'll keep in touch via WhatsApp. So sign up quickly via the link to join our 'BLOW Downwind Crew' WhatsApp group, where you'll be the first to receive the 'Downwinder Alerts'. This way you can adjust your planning in advance 😉
If a downwinder is on the program, you will hear about it 5 days in advance. You can then book via the website to reserve your spot in the downwinder. Two days in advance you will hear from us whether the downwinder will continue.
What happens if I have bad luck along the way?
During the downwinder, we always work with a buddy system. Buddies always watch out for each other. For example, if your buddy's lines have become tangled, you help each other on the coast so that you can then continue together.
We recommend that at least one buddy always carries a phone in case of an emergency.
You might experience equipment failure along the way, so it's your responsibility to ensure your gear is always up to date. If you get stranded, it's also your responsibility to get back to BLOW or the bus.
Please note: there's no bus or support vehicle along the downwinder route. BLOW has instructors who can assist you, but they aren't responsible for stranded kiters.
